Price comparison service hopes new feature will encourage more people to shop second-hand

The second-hand market has grown dramatically in recent years; worth an estimated $405.5 billion USD in 2022. Driven in large part by demand from budget-conscious and environmentally-friendly shoppers, the second-hand market now offers a huge range and quality of items and is increasingly accessible through resellers and dedicated second-hand stores.

To help shoppers filter through the sheer volume of used-goods now available, price comparison service, PriceSpy, has launched a new feature that enables shoppers to compare prices and features of used-goods.

The new feature means shoppers can filter used-goods by brand, condition and price. Icons on product listings will list whether an item is used, refurbished or a demo product. New products in damaged packaging - like perfume - are also included within the feature.

Liisa Matinvesi-Bassett, UK country manager at PriceSpy, explains more about the new feature: “We’ve been listing more and more used-goods on PriceSpy and have been seeing a correlation in people searching for second-hand items. Offering PriceSpy users the ability to filter products by new vs used, and now by deeper product filters, helps us in our mission of guiding shoppers to the best purchase decision.”

Compare a wide variety of second-hand products from a range of retailers

From electronics to household items, popular used-goods on PriceSpy include:

PriceSpy users will find used-goods on sale from popular, trusted, well-known retailers including: eBay, CeX, Game.co.uk, and more. With products from brands ranging from Dell and HP, to Adidas, LEGO, Dior, Playmobil - and many more.

Liisa adds: “It’s important to us that shoppers still have a level of security when buying used-goods, so we prioritise listing retailers and products that come with a right to return and also with product warranties where applicable. We hope that this new feature will encourage more people to shop second-hand and, in turn, save money and reduce wastage.”
